Incremental Learning Based Adaptive Filter for Nonlinear Distributed Active Noise Control System Abstract: Active control of noise for multi-channel applications is affected by the existence of nonlinear primary and secondary paths.
Hybrid Filtered-x Adaptive Vibration Control with Internal Feedback and Online Identification
The first edition of Sound and Structural Vibration was written in the early s. Since then, two major developments have taken place in the field of vibroacoustics. Powerful computational methods and procedures for the numerical analysis of structural vibration, acoustical fields and acoustical interactions between fluids and structures have been developed and these are now universally employed by researchers, consultants and industrial organisations.
Advances in signal processing systems and algorithms, in transducers, and in structural materials and forms of construction, have facilitated the development of practical means of applying active and adaptive control systems to structures for the purposes of reducing or modifying structural vibration and the associated sound radiation and transmission. In this greatly expanded and extensively revised edition, the authors have retained most of the analytically based material that forms the pedagogical content of the first edition, and have expanded it to present the theoretical foundations of modern numerical analysis.
Application of the latter is illustrated by examples that have been chosen to complement the analytical approaches to solving fairly simple problems of sound radiation, transmission and fluid-structural coupling that are presented in the first edition. The number of examples of experimental data that relate to the theoretical content, and illustrate important features of vibroacoustic interaction, has been augmented by the inclusion of a selection from the vast amount of material published during the past twenty five years.
The final chapter on the active control of sound and vibration has no precursor in the first edition. Chapter One 1. Wave in Fluids and Structures 1. Sound Radiation by Vibrating Structures 3. Fluid Loading of Vibrating Structures 4. Transmission of Sound Through Partitions 5. Acoustically Induced Vibration of Structures 6. Frank Fahy has been teaching and researching at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, Southampton, England, for nearly forty years. He is Emeritus Professor of Engineering Acoustics, signifying both his training and professionalmotivation.
Although it is written at an advanced level, almost anyone undertaking serious work in acoustics or vibration is sure to learn something of value by reading it. However, for researchers and PhD students working in acoustics and vibration, it is an essential reference and well worth the cost. Manuscript received November 6, ; final manuscript received September 2, ; published online June 18, Editor: Jeffrey Vipperman. Duan, J. June 18, October ; 5 : An enhanced multiple-input multiple-output MIMO filtered-x least mean square FXLMS algorithm using improved virtual secondary path is proposed as the basis for an active noise control ANC system for treating vehicle powertrain noise. This new algorithm is developed to overcome the limitation caused by the frequency-dependent property of the standard FXLMS algorithm and to reduce the variation of convergence speed inherent in multiple-channel cases, in order to improve the overall performance of the control system.

The vibration and noise that resulted from turbomachinery, such as fans, compressors, and centrifugal pumps, are known to bring considerable disturbance and pollution to the machine itself, the environment, and the operators. Hence, how to cope with the vibration and noise has become a recent research focus. With the advancement of materials science, more and more new nanomaterials have been applied in the field of noise and vibration reduction. To be specific, carbon-based nanomaterials, such as carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, and graphenes, have achieved outstanding results.
Since the s, the advancing global economy has increased the demand for turboprop regional aircraft, and various studies have been conducted to resolve aircraft noise-related problems. Despite the progress made by previous studies, turboprop regional aircraft still have a poor noise environment compared to other vehicles. In addition, although an application of active noise control ANC method had improved the noise environment of the cabin, none of studies were conducted in consideration of a relationship between the application of ANC method and the resulting change of an short-term annoyance.

The performance of the final design is a function of the order in which various aspects of the design are optimised as well as the optimisation process chosen for each aspect. Here, the optimal hierarchy for control is discussed first of all, followed by a discussion of the optimisation of various aspects of control system design. These aspects include: the physical arrangement of reference sensors, error sensors and control actuators; the choice of cost function; the choice of control system hardware architecture; and the choice of algorithm and associated parameters.
Active control is an effective way to suppress low-frequency mechanical vibration. However, with applications to submarine equipment, there are still some shortcomings due to vibration coupling and multifrequency complex excitation. In this paper, a novel hybrid improved adaptive control strategy, feedback and online identification filtered-x LMS, namely, FOFxlms, is proposed, which introduces the residual errors to correct variable step-size, uses the estimated primary path to improve online identification, and applies internal feedback to compensate for the feedforward control. Then the FOFxlms algorithm is applied to a double-layer vibration isolation system of submarine rotating equipment, and the simulation results show that the normalized variable step-size with residual error can effectively improve convergence speed, the internal feedback can efficaciously compensate for steady-state control accuracy, and the online identification can dynamically identify the time-varying characteristics of the secondary path. The vibration reduction efficiency of Fxlms, FFxlms, and FOFxlms increases for the fundamental frequency vibration; the control effect and convergence speed are also enhanced in turn.
Reading of chapter 1 is indispensable for the understanding of including noise control fixtures mufflers, barriers, vibration isolation systems, enclosures, Harris, ; Bies and Hansen, , some fundamental concepts have been Active noise control, which involves suppression, reflection or absorption of the noise. Active Control of Noise and Vibration [Colin Hansen, Scott Snyder] on This major work is the first to treat the active control of both sound and vibration in a unified way.
